Rutherford County Jail

Inmates

Interview with KENNY

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates?
KENNY: No they just talked about their charges and how other people were being treated in there. No evidence, no bond, giving plea bargains just for a release date. They are justifying holding inmates with no witnesses no evidence. The state continuing cases more that 4 times instead of releasing people or lowering their bond or even giving them a bond period. Spartanburg County does the same. I have documentation of the time I spent in there for an unrelated incident a little more that a year ago.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
KENNY: Really there was no problem with the inmates. The problem is with the officers treating people bad not all of the officers though. I witnessed an inmate being hand cuffed while lying on his stomach, because he spit on Officer S’s shirt. He was kicked in his head by Officer S. and Officer J then taken out of his cell and out of the cell block and beaten worse. When they brought him back in he was covered in blood. His face was wiped clean but his shirt was covered in blood. All he wanted was to be let out of his cell to excercize (walk around). He was in his cell for like 2 weeks before they let him out just to beat him. There are more things to tell. I have documentation of every day spent in there.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate if you knew one?
KENNY: No I wasn't but some were allowed.
